Wynn Williams has a long history with Lawlink: one of my colleagues was a board member for a number of years. When he stepped down, I jumped at the chance to take over because I’ve seen first-hand the value of Lawlink and want to contribute to its future.
When I first applied for legal positions back in the early 1990s my first interview was with Lawlink and I was employed via their recruitment scheme. In those early days I greatly benefitted from their graduate workshops, which enabled me to network with others at a similar level from around New Zealand. Since then I’ve been an attendee at Lawlink conferences, which provide great insights and networking opportunities. As a result, I’ve been able to refer clients to lawyers at other Lawlink firms who I know will do an outstanding job.
As a board member I have the opportunity to gain an external perspective and better understand the other Lawlink firms.
Lawlink precedents and member discounts, such as the banking package, are a fantastic resource for all staff within member firms. The ability to share resources, call on expertise from within other firms and bounce ideas around is invaluable.
I highly value the conferences as taking time out from your day-to-day work forces you to think about your business and strategy. The opportunity to network with others at a similar stage in their career is also hugely beneficial.
Our clients benefit from our ability to call on the expertise of lawyers within other member firms, which enhances the service we provide. Clients also often move from one city to another. If they’re looking for a lawyer local to them, we can confidently refer them to a colleague who we know will look after them.
Lawlink will continue to offer the valuable services it currently provides. At the same time, it will keep evolving, facilitating the sharing of resources for the good of all and helping member firms adapt to change.
